Description Formerly known as Polygala verticillata, Senega verticillata, or Senega verticillata var. ambigua, this native annual grows in dainty clumps of thin stems and narrow leaves. It blooms in late summer with slender spikes of tiny, pink-blushed white flowers. Height is usually 6 to 12 inches. The species is native to parts of eastern North America; these seeds are from wild plants growing in my meadow in Bucks County, PA. It is mostly growing in full sun there but also in some light shade. I found this for the first time in 2025, and I haven’t yet tried cultivating it, so I can’t offer any advice on how to best use or site it in a garden. It’s not a show-stopper, but I’m hoping some adventurous folks will find this unusual species of interest. The site where I found it is getting taken over by a weedy grass, and I’m concerned that it may not be able to return there for more than another year or two, so I’m hoping to get the seeds distributed while I can. Annual. Collected in early August 2025. At least 15 seeds. Very limited quantity. PA ecotype. Shipping to U.S. addresses only. Please read the germination information as well before ordering.
