Viktor Berbekucz – Cedric Arming Sword – Black

$39.65 $54.72
The One-and-a-Half Handed Sword from the 13th–14th Century by Viktor Berbekucz is a medieval arming sword designed for sport combat, historical reenactment, and stage use. Inspired by transitional knightly swords of the High to Late Middle Ages, this weapon bridges the gap between the traditional arming sword and the emerging longsword. Built with a durable spring steel blade and reinforced hilt construction, it is purpose-made to withstand the rigors of repeated blade contact while maintaining a historically inspired appearance suitable for reenactment settings. The blade measures 27 3/8 inches and is forged from CRV4 (51CrV4) high carbon spring steel, a material valued for its excellent balance of toughness and flexibility. Designed specifically for safe training environments, the blade features thick rebated edges measuring approximately 2–3 mm and a rounded spatulate tip. Proper heat treatment provides a hardness of roughly 50–54 HRc, allowing the blade to flex under stress and return to true, helping it endure repeated impact during sport combat or stage choreography. The hilt assembly is constructed for durability and stability. A sturdy steel crossguard and pommel anchor the blade securely, with the tang firmly peened over the pommel to create a solid mechanical assembly. For additional reinforcement, the tang is welded to both the guard and pommel to help keep the hilt rigid during demanding use. The 5 inch grip, crafted from beechwood and wrapped in leather, offers enough space for a secure one-handed hold while still allowing the option of a brief second-hand assist for added leverage when needed. Despite its rugged construction, the sword handles with notable agility. The weapon weighs 2 lbs 11 oz with a point of balance approximately 3 3/4 inches from the guard, giving it a lively and responsive feel while still maintaining enough forward presence for authoritative strikes. This balance allows the sword to remain manageable during extended training sessions while delivering the durability required for heavy contact. Practical, historically styled, and built for demanding use, this 13th–14th Century One-and-a-Half Handed Sword is an excellent choice for reenactors, stage combat performers, and historical martial artists seeking a dependable training weapon with the proportions and character of a transitional medieval sword.
